Urlaub im westlichen Allgäu, na ja Urlaub nicht wirklich, wir waren auf Mutter Kind Kur in Scheidegg und haben unsere Freizeit mit einigen Ausflügen in der Umgebung verbracht.
Vorab wurde mir gesagt, der Januar ist so ziemlich der ungünstigste Monat um Scheidegg zu besuchen, alle Hauptattraktionen haben nämlich zu und wenn dann wie dieses Jahr kein Schnee liegt… ich hatte nicht viel Hoffnung. Wir haben aber doch einiges gefunden, was man unternehmen kann. Trotzdem lohnt sich ein Besuch im Sommer bestimmt umso mehr.

Scheidegg selbst

Von unserem Ausgangspunkt den Kurkliniken, kann man etliches erwandern. Entweder ins Nachbardorf und in der Dorfsennerei Böserscheidegg mit lecker glutenfreiem Käse eindecken, ein kleiner Spielplatz ist auch um die Ecke. Oder Ihr lauft über den Höhenweg, geniest den Blick über Scheidegg, auf und ab durch den Wald und am Bächlein entlang zum Spielplatz im Kurpark weiter am Alpenfreibad vorbei Richtung Ponyhof. Auf dem Weg dorthin kommen wir an einem regelrechten Zoo vorbei. Pferde, Emus, Fasane, Enten, Truthähne, kurz vor dem Ponyhof eine Spielwiese für Schafe, Ziegen und Alpakas.

Ponyreiten

Mit dem Pony Lillifee gehen wir eine Runde spazieren, meine Kleine ist so begeistert, dass wir gleich 2 mal herkommen.
Tipp: Der Eintritt kostet 2€, dafür dürft ihr den Spielplatz und die Spielscheune mitbenutzen. Für unseren ca 15 minütigen Spaziergang zahlen wir 8€. Einen Helm könnt ihr euch hier leihen.

Glutenfrei im Restaurant Post

Jeder, der sich schonmal mit dem Thema glutenfrei auseinandersetzt hat, dem ist Scheidegg bestimmt ein Begriff. Ein Ort an dem sich Cafes, Restaurants und Hotels mit Zöliakie auskennen, ein Traum. Unproblematisch essen gehen, normalerweise eher herausfordernd, in Scheidegg total unkompliziert, hier kennt sich fast jeder extrem gut aus. Da wir in der Kur essenstechnisch gut versorgt waren, waren wir nur einmal auswärts essen. Für meine Kleine gab es eine glutenfreie Kinderkarte zum Ausmalen und wir haben die Käsespätzle und Schnitzel probiert, natürlich alles glutenfrei und mega lecker.

Allgäulino

Ziemlich genau zwischen Scheidegg und München liegt der Indoorspielplatz Allgäulino wo wir uns auf eine Runde quatschen und spielen verabreden. In einer ehemaligen Tennishalle wird geklettert und gehüpft. Für kleines Geld gibt’s ein tierisches Ballontier. Die ganz mutigen erwartet eine Rutsche mit freiem Fall, nix für mich!
Tipp: Glutenfreie Pommes sind hier kein Problem.

Steibis

Auch wenn in Scheidegg selbst kein Schnee lag, eine halbe Stunde weiter Richtung Berge, in Steibis, Oberstaufen finden wir Schnee. Genügend, um im kleinen Familienskigebiet rund um die Imbergbahn eine Runde zu fahren. Nach unserem letzten Versuch in Winterberg waren wir zuversichtlich, dass unsere Kleine Ihren Spaß haben würde. Weit gefehlt.
Unsere Kleine wird mit Helm, Schuhen, und Skier ausgestattet und hoch geht’s. Leider verpassen wir irgendwann die richtige Abfahrt und landen statt auf einer blauen auf einer roten Piste, eine mittlere Katastrophe. Nach diesem ungeplanten vorzeitigen Ende hatten wir schon ein bisschen Schiss, dass es das war mit Skifahren, aber mittlerweile haben wir schon ein paar Skikursstunden in der Skihalle hinter uns und der nächste Skiurlaub folgt hoffentlich nächstes Jahr.

Trotz ungünstiger Jahreszeit kann man in der Gegend um Scheidegg jede Menge unternehmen, der nächste Besuch ist schon in Planung, im September sind wir wieder da.

Vacation in the western Allgäu, well vacation not really, we were at “mother-child-reha” in Scheidegg and spent our free time with some excursions in the area.
I was told in advance that January is the worst month to visit Scheidegg, all main attractions are closed and if there is hardly snow as this year… I didn’t have much hope. But we have found some things to do. Nevertheless, a visit in the summer is certainly worthwhile.

Scheidegg itself

From our starting point, the clinic area, you can walk a lot. Either to the neighbouring village and stuck yourself with delicious gluten-free cheese from  village dairy Böserscheidegg, a small playground is also around the corner. Or you can walk along the high-level trail with a view over Scheidegg, up and down through the forest and along the little river to the playground, then past the Alpine outdoor pool in the direction of the Pony farm. On the way, we pass a real zoo. Horses, emus, pheasants, ducks, turkeys, shortly before the pony farm a playground for sheep, goats and alpacas.

With pony Lillifee we go for a walk, my little one is so enthusiastic that we come here twice.

Tip: The entrance fee is 2€, but you can use the playground and the play barn. For our 15 minutes walk we pay 8€. You can borrow a helmet here.

Gluten-free at the restaurant Post

Anyone who has ever dealt with the subject of gluten-free probably knows about Scheidegg. A place where cafes, restaurants and hotels know about coeliac condition, a dream. Going out for a meal without any problems, usually rather challenging, in Scheidegg totally uncomplicated. As we were well supplied with food during the reha, we only went out for a meal once. For my little one there was a gluten-free children’s menu to color in and we tried the cheese noodles and schnitzels, all gluten-free and tasty as well.

Allgäulino

Pretty much exactly between Scheidegg and Munich is the indoor playground Allgäulino where we meet for a chat and play. Climbing and jumping is done in a former tennis hall. For little money you can get an balloon animal. The very brave ones can expect a slide with free fall, nothing for me for sure!
Tip: Gluten-free fries are no problem here.

Steibis

Even though there was no snow in Scheidegg itself, half an hour further on towards the mountains, in Steibis, Oberstaufen we find some snow. Enough to ski in the small family ski area around the Imbergbahn. After our last attempt in Winterberg we were confident that our little one would have fun. Far from it.
Our little one gets equipped with helmet, boots and skis and up we go. Unfortunately, we miss the right downhill run at some point and instead of a blue one we land on a red run, a medium catastrophe. After this unplanned premature end we were a bit scared that this was the end with skiing, but in the meantime we have already had a few ski lessons in the ski hall and the next ski holiday will hopefully follow next year.

In spite of the unfavourable season, you can do a lot of things in the area around Scheidegg. Our next trip is already planned, we will be back here in September.
